Activist Marcia Wickham is an expert in this subject. This film tells the story of her journey from trauma to recovery. Over forty years, she overcomes childhood incest and escapes fundamentalist Christianity to achieve self-discovery and fulfillment.
I am the co-director of this film, along with Nora Mandray and Jason Kohl.
Despite the harsh themes of the story, this project was a labor of love for me that took over a decade to complete.
From an artistic standpoint, I wanted to create an overwhelming, emotional experience predicated on the theme of transcendent healing. Like a an otherworldly beam of kindness that contains the possibility of self-forgiveness, personal transformation and the possibility of expression that would hitherto have been unimaginable. This is my aesthetic. I believe additional attempts at this aesthetic are my destiny.
